EXPERIENCE a captivating leap in time and discover the slate industry of the 20th century. The Haut-Martelange Slate Quarry will give you an image, on an 8ha area and its 22 buildings of how slate mining influenced and shaped the region for 200 years.

EXPLORE the working day of a Martelange quarry man by getting a live demonstration of the slate trade, how splitting and cutting slates works and watch an original short film, made in 1938, of this specific industrial site. Visit also the underground gallery ( -15m) of the Rosset mine to get an idea of the daily life of the slate worker.
It is IMPORTANT to wear sturdy shoes and a jacket.
Entering the underground galleries is prohibited in heels, flip flops, sandals etc. (A cool temperature of 9°C / 48°F is to be expected all year round in the gallery)
