The Éislek – land of history

In the past the north of Luxembourg has been the sad scene of wars and battles, the most famous one certainly being the Battle of the Bulge that took place in the winter of 1944-1945. During these dark chapters of history, the people of the Ardennes had to revolt and defend themselves against the occupying force. Today, many places commemorate those who fought for peace and freedom. Throughout the region, you will find memorials, monuments and museums that can be visited.

In order to provide an overview of the major sites, the Regional tourism organization of the Éislek and the Belgian Tourism Associations of Belgian Luxembourg and Liège have edited a map and a historical guide that can be purchased via or via our online shop.
