"The Family of Man" photo exhibition: What is humanity?
With over 10 million visitors since its creation, the world-famous photo exhibition "The Family of Man" is a legend in the history of photography. Created by Edward Steichen and presented for the first time in 1955 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, it is considered a manifesto for peace and human equality, expressed through post-war humanist photography. The collection consists of a total of 503 photographs by 273 photographers from 68 countries. After travelling through more than 150 museums worldwide, the last complete version of "The Family of Man" is housed as a permanent exhibition at Clervaux Castle since 1994. Since 2003 it figures on the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage list.
