Each year, thousands of visitors wander around this small medieval town, attracted by the narrow streets, ramparts with watchtowers, the international music festival and the traditional medieval festival. Visitors are spoiled. Traditional attractions include the medieval castle, which is a national heritage site and symbol of the feudal residence of the Roman and Gothic periods. It is considered one of the most important historical monuments in Europe. Furthermore, Victor Hugo’s house, where he spent his time in Luxembourg as a political refugee in 1871, the city museum, the monastery, the Gothic churches, the outdoor swimming pool, the Adventure Park, the marked hiking trails, the only chairlift in Luxembourg and the nearby Our dam all make Vianden an outstanding tourist destination in the Grand Duchy.
