CinEast Festival 2024
Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg
During the 17th edition of CinEast, the Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, audiences will enjoy a broad selection of some of the best recent films produced in more than 20 countries of the former Eastern Bloc. In addition to over 120 screenings in cinemas, CinEast will also make an exciting selection of films available online.
Between 3 and 20 October, more than 65 feature films and 50 short films of all genres will be screened in Luxembourg at the Cinémathèque, ,Ciné Utopia, Kinepolis Kirchberg, neimënster, Ancien Cinema (Vianden) and other venues in and around the city.
This year the festival presents a Focus on Croatia with numerous screenings of recent films from and about Croatia, a Croatian evening, an exhibition of the Croatian artist Ivan Radman at Ancien Cinema Vianden, several Croatian guests and a ciné-concert.
The festival’s thematic cycle ‘United We Stand’ will be reflected in an extensive photo exhibition (neimënster), giving visitors the chance to discover a selection of photographic projects exploring the need for unity and solidarity in its different dimensions.
.Various musical events will be completing the festival programme. They include the Opening concert with the energetic Lidiya Koycheva & Balkan Orkestra (4/10, Melusina), a special show of the renowned Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra (29/09, Rockhal), a cinéconcert with the Croatian group Chui (8/10, Cinémathèque), a jazz matinée with Tamara Lukasheva Quartet (13/10, neimënster), and the Closing event with the Polish band Neoklez (17/10, Rotondes).
CinEast 2024 will welcome over 30 international guests who will meet audiences in cinemas during Q&A sessions after selected screenings, and take part in several ciné-debates. Numerous programmes for young audiences are also on the festival menu as well as opportunities to taste some traditional Eastern European food and drinks.
Continuing the charity initiative launched in 2022, the Festival organisers will be collecting donations for the charity project ‘CinEast4Ukraine’ that aims to help the victims of the war in Ukraine.
