Join historian Frank Rockenbrod as you explore the Schumannseck memorial site and its eventful history. Deep in the forest, numerous remnants—including trenches, bomb craters, and so-called “foxholes”—still bear witness to the fierce fighting of the Battle of the Ardennes in the winter of 1944–45.
Along the approximately three-kilometer-long memorial trail, you’ll gain fascinating insights into the events of that time as well as the fates of the soldiers and the local population. Silhouettes based on historical photographs along the trail illustrate the events of that era and bring history to life.
