The Battle of the Bulge was one of the largest and most confusing battles of the Second World War. US General Patton, of whom there is a monument in Ettelbruck, and his 3rd Army finally liberated the Luxembourgers from German occupation at that time.
The museum in the courtyard of Clervaux Castle illustrates the events of this dark period in the winter of 1944/45 with numerous documents as well as uniforms and weapons from the battle. Realistic dioramas illustrate the chronological sequence of the dramatic battles. Countless showcases contain personal belongings of soldiers and civilians, which, with additional information, provide a touching testimony to the horrors of war.
