Post History T'Our -Tour on the historic “Thurn & Taxis” postal route
Guided walk in historical scenes with some surprises around Asselborn in the municipality of Wincrange.
500 years ago exchanging messages over greater distances was not as fast and effortless as it is today. Mail was delivered by horse and it was not unusual for riders to spent weeks on the road. The only postrider station in Luxembourg was located in the village of Asselborn, in the North of the country. This is where the guided historical-humorous hiking tour begins. On a route of about 5 km, which partly follows the original route of the 16th and 17th centuries, hikers can enjoy theatre performances and exchange with “contemporary witnesses”. What is the cloth merchant Martin Tissus up to on this historic postal route? Is the postmaster “Franz Kleffer” really condemned? What roles do the experienced postman “Postfränz” and other “contemporaries” play around the post relay in Asselborn?
