Exhibition opening TRACE DE PASSAGE by Marie Capesius
The exhibition “TRACE DE PASSAGE” by Marie Capesius brings together works created during two artist residencies: one in September 2024 at the Stilfs in South Tyrol, and the other in September 2025 at the Ermitage in Clervaux. In her work, the artist explores questions of psychogenealogy and examines how family influences and transgenerational experiences shape our thoughts and actions.
.
Inspired by the respective locations – their histories, landscapes and soundscapes – Marie Capesius developed an immersive installation comprising Polaroid photographs and a multi-layered sound collage of natural sounds. The focus is on the invisible traces of the past and their impact on the present.
Taking an introspective approach, the artist works with symbols, self-portraits and portraits of animals, as well as recurring elements such as a white cloth. Her photographic compositions navigate the tension between the visible and the invisible, making hidden, often unconscious processes tangible.
.
In this way, photography becomes a medium that points beyond the visible and brings the tangible into focus.
