Art in Éislek

Art has always held a significant place in Éislek.

It inspires creative minds in their work and shapes the everyday life of many people—whether through involvement in music societies, photography clubs, or visits to cinemas and cultural centres. Some municipalities like Clervaux and Ettelbruck are dedicated to specific art forms, photography and street art, turning their public spaces into genuine open-air exhibition areas. Many traditional events are closely linked to art, including numerous music festivals, the art festival in Lellingen, as well as the puppetry festival in Tadler and the Nuit des Lampions in Wiltz, both held every two years.

Art museums & alternative cultural venues

The famous exhibition The Family of Man at Clervaux Castle is part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register and is a milestone in photographic history. In Vianden, the Victor Hugo House honours the writer and artist who lived and worked there during his exile.

Ettelbruck’s urban landscape also shows creativity: street art is used deliberately to revitalise public spaces. In contrast, the Cité de l’Image in Clervaux presents contemporary photography through changing outdoor exhibitions, bringing art into everyday life.

Whether within historic walls or out in the open, Éislek offers space for art in all its facets.
