Where? L-9463 Stolzembourg
Stolzemburg lies in the idyllic Our Valley, just 6 km from Vianden. The copper mine with guided tours, the rebuilt Stolzemburg Castle and the historic bell tower make it a fascinating destination for nature and culture enthusiasts.
Stolzemburg is located in the scenic Our Valley, around 6 km upstream from the tourist town of Vianden. The diverse landscape, with its dense forests and narrow valleys, invites visitors to enjoy extensive hiking tours.
In the village, the bell tower built before 1585 and the church bear witness to the long history of the parish. Stolzemburg Castle rises on a hill in the village centre. Destroyed in 1454 and again in 1679, it was rebuilt in 1898 in a Scottish style. Today, the castle is privately owned but remains a striking landmark.
A highlight is the Stolzemburg Copper Mine, which offers guided tours through the old tunnels and an information centre where visitors can learn about the region’s copper mining history and geology.
