Wiltz Garden
Where? 8, Rue de la Montagne, 9538 Wiltz
Plants, terraces, water features, sculptures, paths and stone-paved areas form a living work of art covering 2.5 hectares, which is created and maintained jointly by people with disabilities and the unemployed, participants in temporary projects, craftspeople and artists.
The Jardin de Wiltz project was initiated by artists from the group “DER BLAUE KOMPRESSOR – FLOATING & STOMPING COMPANY”, who developed new models of cultural work in public and social spaces (1983).
Thanks to the commitment of individuals and organisations from Wiltz, the non-profit association COOPERATIONS was founded in 1990. In doing so, they created an organisational platform for the Jardin de Wiltz. Today, this platform also serves as a forum for a wide variety of cultural and socio-educational projects aimed at a broad audience and promoting the interplay between art, social participation and rural development.
Projects run by COOPERATIONS aimed at the social, cultural and professional integration of people with disabilities have received co-funding from the European Commission.
COOPERATIONS’ programmes are made possible thanks to the support of the Luxembourg Government, the municipality of Wiltz and private sponsors. As the owner, the municipality of Wiltz provides COOPERATIONS with the land for the Jardin de Wiltz. The garden is open daily.
