Description
Fahrradweg de l'Ouest (PC 17) connects the Attert cycle path (PC 12) with the Wiltz cycle path (PC 20) via Redange, Rambrouch, Koeschette (PC 18), and Arsdorf.
Starting from Route 12 (Attert), this route passes through a less known but still interesting region of the Grand Duchy. After leisurely climbing the Ardennes foothills, you can make a small detour from Koetscheid to the Obersauer Nature Park with its lake.
There you will find numerous recreational activities: swimming, water sports, solar boat trips, hikes on the circular trail around the lake, which lies like a green jewel box with magnificent views of the sparkling water surface. The nature park is also highly appreciated for its regional products (for example, teas, spelt beer, or the famous Ardennes raw ham).
Another recommended detour takes you from Koetscheid 5 km along the eastern country road, where you will find a wonderful viewpoint (Napoleonsgaart). Very nearby, you can admire remarkable frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries in the church in the tiny village of Rindschleiden.
Directions
The West Cycle Path starts at the exit of Noerdange. To reach it, follow the street "op der Gare" in the center of Noerdange and the PC12 heading north until it turns east. The PC17 leads up towards Niederpallen. At the intersection with CR106 "Rue de Noerdange" in Niederpallen, there is a narrow-gauge railway museum on the right side of the route with equipment from that era. The route runs slightly uphill parallel to CR106. After passing through the Quäkebësch forest, the route descends into the Attert valley, where it reaches Redange via a small bridge: At Rue de Beckerich, turn right and follow Rue de l'Hôpital, the first street on the left, to reach the intersection with the N22 from Ell to Redange. The N22 is crossed and the path follows CR304 "rue Fraesbich" heading north. Along CR304 to the exit of Redange, a separate lane for cyclists and pedestrians has been established.
