Hosingen during the Second World War: Experience history in the water tower

What happened in Hosingen when the Battle of the Bulge began in December 1944? On this guided tour, history comes to life right where it actually took place. 

Accompanied by a guide, you’ll explore the Memorial Park and learn about the events that shaped the village and its surroundings during the Second World War. The various memorials, including the ‘Keystone in the Way’ monument and the memorial stone of the former German military cemetery, provide the backdrop for background information, stories and anecdotes. 

A special part of the tour takes place in the water tower, which is itself closely linked to the events of the Battle of the Bulge. Today, an interactive exhibition on the history of Hosingen spans four levels there. Testimonies from eyewitnesses, touchscreens and an interactive display of the geographical context help visitors to better understand the events of that time and their impact on the region. 

Finally, 138 steps lead up to the top of the tower, which is around 30 metres high. From there, the view opens out over Hosingen and the countryside, which has been a recurring theme throughout the tour. This vantage point is accessible exclusively as part of a guided tour. 

The tour is particularly aimed at adults who are interested in the history of the Second World War and the Battle of the Bulge, and who would like to gain a better understanding of the events that took place there.
