Small Steps, Big Moments – Donkey Experience at the farm
At the Om Béchel Educational Farm in Asselborn, time moves at the gentle pace of the donkeys. Accompanied by Pascale, the farm’s owner, visitors of all ages discover life in the countryside and share genuine moments with the animals.
Over the course of about two hours, participants learn how to groom and prepare the donkeys before setting off together on an easy walk through meadows and hedgerows. With every step, curiosity grows – a glance exchanged, a twitching ear, the steady rhythm of hooves on the ground. After returning to the farm, everyone is invited to meet the other residents – cows, goats, sheep, chickens, horses and dogs – and learn more about their everyday life.
A highlight of the herd are the Poitou donkeys, one of Europe’s oldest and rarest breeds. Recognisable by their long, shaggy coats and calm temperament, they are true characters who radiate patience and warmth. Their gentle nature makes every encounter a memorable experience for both children and adults.
This peaceful and engaging activity offers a genuine connection with nature and the rural spirit of Éislek – creating lasting memories for young and old alike.
