The memorial route follows the well-trodden escape route, which began in the small village of Sassel, bypassed Troisvierges, crossed the railway, and then vanished into the extensive Biwischer Forest to cross the border at the little stream "Kléngelbaach" and end on Belgian territory at a place that was then called "Maison Rouge."
