When night falls in Éislek, the sky reveals a different side of the region. Thanks to some of the lowest levels of light pollution in the country, several municipalities offer particularly good conditions for observing the stars, an experience that fascinates adults and younger participants alike.
This stargazing experience takes place at a carefully selected dark-sky location and lasts around three to four hours. Adults, children and teenagers gather to explore the visible constellations, planets and selected deep-sky objects such as galaxies and nebulae. Telescopes and gentle laser guidance help make the night sky accessible, while clear and engaging explanations connect what is seen above with the wider universe.
The focus lies on shared discovery rather than technical complexity. The guide also raises awareness about natural darkness and the importance of reducing light pollution, not only for astronomy, but also for wildlife and human wellbeing.
With a relaxed pace and a small group size, there is time to observe, ask questions and fully experience the atmosphere of the night.
