Welcome to Éislek

This page is for staff working with visitors across Éislek.

You'll find an overview of activities and attractions, key contacts, and answers to the questions visitors ask most often. The following topics will be covered.

Region

What is Éislek?

Éislek is the northern region of Luxembourg; it forms part of the Ardennes and borders Germany and Belgium. It is a very rural and peaceful area with plenty of forests, hills, rivers and small towns.

Key towns include Clervaux, Wiltz, Ettelbruck, Diekirch, Esch-sur-Sûre and Vianden. People visit this region to enjoy outdoor activities or to take advantage of its rich cultural offerings. Traditions, crafts and local festivals also shape everyday life.

In Éislek, you can also find regional produce such as oils, honey, meat and beer from small local producers, many of whom also offer guided tours.

How to get around?

Public Transportation

Public transport in Luxembourg is completely free of charge. Trains, buses and trams can be used without a ticket across the entire country. The larger towns usually have a direct train service to and from Luxembourg City. From there, bus routes run to the smaller towns.

To answer visitor questions about train and bus connections:

  • CFL — timetables and connections for trains within Luxembourg and the border region
  • Mobiliteit.lu — all public transport connections and real-time information

Apps:

  • CFL Go — real-time train schedules, platform information, and current service disruptions. Available for iOS and Android.
  • Mobiliteit App — plan multimodal trips by train, bus, and tram, check real-time departures, and get step-by-step navigation. Available for iOS and Android.

On-Demand Mobility

Visitors have access to several flexible mobility options in the Éislek region:

  • Rentabike - Bike rental for exploring the region at your own pace (see below)
  • Move We Carry - on-demand luggage transportation service for the region
